Puppet Skit Sample

 Plunge into Worship

Characters: Lance, Marla, Rhonda, Jill, Sheila, Kat, Joe, and Terri

Setting: As the skit opens, Kat and Sheila are the only ones on stage.  They are singing Jesus Loves Me, half-heartedly.  They should sing the song in a rushed way and look as if  they are bored and just trying to finish a task. 

Kat & Sheila:            (at the same time)           

                        Jesus loves me this I know.

                        For the Bible tells me so.

                        Little ones to Him belong.

                        They are weak but He is strong. 

                        Yes, Jesus loves me.

                        Yes, Jesus loves me.

                        Yes, Jesus loves me.

                        The Bible tells me so.

 (long pause)

 Kat:                  How long do you think we have to do this? 

Sheila:             I don’t know.  Until the others come back I guess. 

Kat:                  Should we sing it again? 

Sheila:             We’ve sung it 15 times already.  How long does it take to worship anyway? 

Kat:                  I don’t know….a few minutes? 

Sheila:             Then why aren’t the others back yet? 

Kat:                  Maybe they really want to impress Joe and Terri, so they’re taking an extra long time. 

Sheila:             Do you want to worship anymore? 

Kat:                  Not really.  You? 

(Joe and Terri enter unnoticed by Kat and Sheila.  They stand off to the side for a few moments) 

Sheila:             No. I think we’re done.  (holds out her hands for Kat to see) Hey, what do you think of this new nail polish color?  Do you like it? 

Kat:                  I do!  It really goes well with your skin tone.  

Sheila:             That’s what the lady at the store said.  She sold me this blush too (points to her cheeks), and this eye shadow (points to her eyelids).  They’re a matching set.  See how they all compliment each other? 

Kat:                  I love that eye shadow!  You think that would look good on me? 

Sheila:             I don’t know, maybe a lighter shade for you would be better. 

Kat:                  Maybe you could go back to that store with me and the sales lady could pick out some nice colors for me. 

Sheila:             That’s a great idea! 

Joe:                 (clears his throat to get the girl’s attention) Excuse me, ladies but aren’t you supposed to be spending time in worship right now? 

Sheila:             Oh right, we already did that. 

Terri:                (surprised) You did? 

Kat:                  Yeah, we’re done a little while ago. 

Joe:                 So, how do you feel? 

Sheila:             (non-chalant) I’m a bit hot but other than that I feel okay.  How about you, Kat? 

Kat:                  I’m good.  Although, I am a little thirsty.  You got anything to drink around here?
