Puppet Skit Sample

 Plunge into Service

Characters: Lance, Marla, Rhonda, Jill, Sheila, Kat, Joe, and Terri

Setting: To the side of the stage sits a tub full of dirty dishes.  All but Terri and Joe enter at the same time. 

Sheila:             So, what are we supposed to do wtih our dirty dishes? 

Rhonda:          It looks like they go in that tub over there.  That’s where all the rest of them are. 

Kat:                  That’s a lot of dirty dishes! (looking around) Where’s the rest of the staff?  

Jill:                   I think they went home early tonight. 

Kat:                  Then who’s going to wash all those dishes? 

Lance:             We are.  Don’t you remember what Joe said last night? 

Kat:                  No. 

Lance:             Well, maybe if you and Sheila had been listening instead of braiding each other’s hair, you might have a clue. 

Sheila:             Our hair was wet! 

Kat:                  We didn’t want it to end up all frizzy!  We had no choice really. 

Marla:              Whatever. 

Sheila:             So what are we supposed to do? 

Marla:              (sighs) We’re supposed to wash all the dishes. 

Kat:                  But it’s our last night here!  Shouldn’t we be out having fun or celebrating or something instead of stuck in this kitchen with a pile of nasty dishes? 

Lance:             Joe and Terri thought if we were going to be working here at the water park, it might be a good idea for us to know about some of the other jobs  too.  

Kat:                  Why? 

Sheila:             Yeah, why?  We’re supposed to be lifeguards not dishwashers! 

Rhonda:          If we know how other members of the staff do their jobs, we can fill in for them if necessary.  That’s why they were going over all that stuff with us last night. 

Kat:                  You mean instead of sitting under the sun working on my tan, I might get stuck back here up to my elbows in leftover chunks of salad? 

Sheila:             No way!  Not me! 

Jill:                   If that’s where Joe and Terri need you that day, then “yes way.”  If we’re employees of the park, we do what they tell us to do. 

Kat:                  (whining) But I don’t want to wash dishes! 

Sheila:             Me either!  Especially not on spaghetti night!
