Puppet Skit Sample

 Plunge into Opportunity

Characters: Lance, Marla, Rhonda, Jill, Sheila, Kat, Joe, Terri and the Boss

Setting: Scene opens with the Boss (gender neutral) sitting behind a small table looking over applications.  Two chairs sit in front or to the side of the table. 

Joe and Terri enter 

Joe:                 Hi Boss.  You wanted to see us? 

Boss:               Yes.  I was looking over these applications for our new recruits.  

Terri:                We’ve got some good candidates this year. 

Boss:               I see that.  I think many of them will make a fine addition to our staff here. 

Joe:                 So, you’ve made your decision as to who you want to hire? 

Boss:               I’ve read your report detailing the events of the week, but before I make my final decisions I’d like to speak with the candidates in person first.  Would you mind bringing them here so I can talk to them? 

Terri:                I’ll go get them.  (she exits) 

Boss:               What were your impressions of this group, Joe? 

Joe:                 I think some have more potential than others, but overall they did well this week. 

Boss:               You know we can’t hire them all, don’t you? 

Joe:                 I wish that weren’t the case, but yes.  

Terri enters with all the others 

Terri:                Here they are, Boss. 

Boss:               Well, here’s the fine group of young people I’ve been hearing so much about this week.  Come in and have a seat.  (the recruits can either sit in chairs or on the floor) 

Boss:               Joe and Terri have told me a lot about each of you.  I wanted to hear how your week went in your own words.  Who would like to begin? 

Marla:              (raises her hand) I will.  

Boss:               Why don’t you tell me about your first day. 

Marla:              Well, the first day we were all really nervous.  Joe and Terri had us looking all over the Water Park for several keys. 

Sheila:             Except there were none to be found! 

Rhonda:          Or so we thought! 

Marla:              We looked everywhere but couldn’t find a single key. 

Kat:                  We were getting a little frustrated! 

Jill:                   (staring at Kat and Sheila) Some more than others! 

Lance:             But just when we didn’t think we’d find what we were looking for, Joe and Terri told us to look again.  

Boss:               And? 

Lance:             Even though we had looked a hundred times in the same spot, we looked again and this time, the keys were there. 

Jill:                   And the keys fit all the snack machines, so we got unlimited access to all the goodies this week. 

Sheila:             Speak for yourself! 

Lance:             If you and Kat hadn’t given up so fast, you might have found the keys too. 

Kat:                  We looked for hours and couldn’t find anything!  Who knew it was a lousy  test of obedience? 

Sheila:             Yeah, if we had known that, we would have looked again when Joe told us to. 

Joe:                 It wouldn’t be called a “test” if you knew ahead of time.
