Puppet Skit Sample

 Plunge into Faith

Characters: Lance, Marla, Rhonda, Jill, Sheila, Kat, Joe, and Terri

Setting: As the scene opens, Kat, Marla and Rhonda are the only ones on stage. Kat paces back and forth, while Marla and Rhonda look off to the side.  It should appear as if they are watching a scene off stage.  

Marla:              Sheila is in position and Jill is about ready to dive in.   

Rhonda:            There she goes!  Kat, you want to watch? 

Kat:                  No thanks.   

Marla:              Jill’s almost there.  (pause) She’s just about to reach Sheila.  (pause) There, she’s got her.  

Rhonda:          She’s doing a good job of pulling her in too. 

Marla:              It’s a lot easier if you don’t panic.   

Rhonda:          They’re heading for the side of the pool.  They made it!   

(Marla and Rhonda give each other a “high five”) 

Marla:              Your turn, Kat.  The rest of us all passed our life saving test.  Now it’s up to you and Lance. 

Kat:                  I don’t think I can do this! 

Rhonda:          Sure you can.  It’s easy. 

Kat:                  That’s not what you said yesterday. 

Rhonda:          That’s before all those hours of practice.  Once you get the hang of it and really know what you’re doing, it’s not too bad. 

Marla:              You’re going to do fine, Kat.   

(Joe, Terri, Lance, Sheila and Jill enter) 

Rhonda:          (to Sheila and Jill) Great job you two!   

Marla:              Yeah, you look like real pros out there. 

Sheila:             It felt strange trusting someone that much, but Jill did a great job.   

Jill:                   Thanks.  So did you. 

Terri:                That only leaves Lance and Kat.   Are you two ready? 

Lance:             I’m good to go. 

Kat:                  I’m not.  (going over to Joe)  I don’t think I can do this. 

Joe:                 Why not?  We spent several hours yesterday practicing on the dummies.  You were doing real well.   

Terri:                Now it’s time to practice on the real thing.  

Kat:                  What if I make mistake? 

Terri:                Joe and I will be right there to help.  Just keep calm and don’t panic, and everything will be fine. 

Kat:                  I’m not sure if I trust Lance. 

Lance:             What?  You don’t trust me?  I’m the one who should be having a problem trusting you, not the other way around! 

Kat:                  What are you talking about? 

Lance:             You were the one who was trying to drown the dummy yesterday, remember?  The dummy you were supposed to be rescuing!
