 Plunge into Courage

Characters: Lance, Marla, Rhonda, Jill, Sheila, Kat, Joe, and Terri

Setting: Lance, Marla, Rhonda, Jill and Sheila sit around stage talking 

Jill:                   Do you think they’ll let her stay after what happened this morning? 

Marla:              Do you think they’ll let any of us stay?  None of us did a very good job. 

Rhonda:            Yeah, but Kat was the worst.  

Lance:             I wouldn’t be surprised if they asked her to leave by the end of they day. 

Sheila:             Would they really do that? 

Lance:             Would you want her to be your lifeguard? 

Sheila:             She’s my friend.  

Marla:              I know, but if you had to depend on her to save your life, would you? 

Rhonda:            I wouldn’t. 

Jill:                   Me either.  Not after what happened. 

Sheila:             But everybody deserves a second chance, right? 

Lance:             What if that had been a real kid out there?  

Sheila:             But we all panicked.  

Lance:             Not like she did.  

(Kat enters) 

Kat:                  Hey, what are guys talking about? 

Sheila:             Oh, nothing.  How are you feeling? 

Kat:                  I’m fine.  Why? 

Rhonda:            We were a little worried about you after what happened this morning. 

Kat:                  What?  You mean that whole incident in the pool?  (waves it off) I’m over it.  Everything is fine. 

Marla:              Are they gonna let you stay? 

Kat:                  Yeah.  Why wouldn’t they? 

Lance:             Maybe because you nearly drowned during the life saving exercises this morning!
