Puppet Skit SampleDo My Best
Characters: Paula, Pam,
Steve Paula:
(pacing back and forth, talking to herself) Calm down, Paula.
You can do this. You’ve done this a thousand times before.
Just breathe: in (inhales a deep breath), out (exhales).
There, that’s much better. (Pam
enters) Pam:
They’re just about ready to start.
How do you feel? Paula:
Nervous! Pam:
Why? You’ve done this a thousand times! Paula:
That’s what I was just telling myself, but I’m so nervous.
Did you see how many people are out there? Pam:
It’s a full house. It’s
standing room only. Paula:
(let’s out a nervous whine) Ooohh, why did I ever agree to do
this? Pam:
Because you’re the best singer in the whole state. Paula:
Right. I beat out 2,000 other girls. Pam:
And now you’re singing the National Anthem on television before the
semi-finals of a championship basketball game. Paula:
(begins to pace again) I don’t think I can do it. Pam:
Sure you can. Paula:
My mind is going blank! I
can’t remember the words! Pam:
It’s easy. (begins
to sing) ” O say, can you see, by the dawn’s early light.” Paula:
(begins to sing) “What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s
last gleaming...” That’s right.
I remember now. Pam:
You’re going to do fine. Paula:
My hands are all sweaty and my heart is beating real fast! Pam:
It’s natural you’d be nervous. You’re
going to be singing in a stadium filled people, not to mention all the millions
of people who will be watching from home on t.v. Paula:
Pam, you’re not helping! Pam:
I’m sorry. Paula:
What if I forget the words? Pam:
Just keep singing. I bet no one will even notice. Paula:
I think people will notice if I don’t know the words to the National
Anthem! Pam:
Then don’t mess it up in the first place. Paula:
That’s easy for you to say you’re not the one singing a solo in front
of millions of people!
