Griswald: I’m so sick of all this rain! When is it going to stop?

Ham: (sarcastic) According to dad’s calculations, we’ve got at least another week of it.

Griswald: I can’t take it anymore, Ham! All it ever does is rain, rain, rain!

Ham: Tell me about it, Griswald—I try to sleep at night and all I ever hear is the pounding, pounding, pounding of the rain and the loud cracks of thunder!

Griswald: Not to mention the blinding flashes of lightning! If I can get to sleep at all, all I see is white, hot flashes of light in my dreams!

Ham: More like nightmares!

Griswald: Exactly!

Shem: (enters) There you are Ham. Japheth and I have been looking all over for you. We need some help with a few of the animals.

Ham: Which animals?

Shem: One of the snakes got loose and now we can’t find him. Mom nearly had a heart attack when she opened up her cabinet and a snake lunged out at her.

Ham: Shem, you know I hate snakes! Can’t you and Japheth take care of this yourselves?

Shem: Look Ham, Japheth and I have been doing more than our fair share of work around here.

Ham: What’s that supposed to mean?

Shem: It means that while you were laying in bed for two weeks, Japheth and I had to work overtime to make up for your absence!

Ham: Those two weeks were no picnic for me either you know!

Shem: Yeah, I’ll bet it was real hard lying around every day while all the rest of us worked!

Ham: I wasn’t lying down for the fun of it, Shem. I was lying down because I couldn’t stand up without the whole room spinning and puking my guts out.

Shem: I know all about your gut problems. Who do you think cleaned up all the messes you made?

Ham: It’s not like I did it on purpose!

Shem: Yeah? Well, I wouldn’t be surprised if you did!

Ham: What do you mean?

Shem: I mean, you’re lazy! You’ll do anything to get out of work.

Ham: That’s not true!

Shem: You just said a minute ago you didn’t want to help find the snake.

Ham: That’s because I hate snakes!
