Striper—skunk
Needles—porcupine
Griswald—bear
J.C.—rabbit
Mickey—monkey
Ricky—raccoon

(Shem is on stage as J.C. and Mickey enter)

J.C.: (enters) You’ve got to run faster than that if you expect to catch me, Mickey!

Mickey: (running in out of breath) Okay, I give up! You run faster than me!

Shem: Well, it likes you two are getting along better!

J.C.: We’re in a good mood today.

Shem: Why is that?

J.C.: The rain finally stopped for one thing!

Mickey: Yeah, the sun came out and the water went down.

Shem: But it’s not been raining for several months now.

J.C.: That’s why we’re in such a good mood. It shouldn’t be much longer now, right Shem?

Shem: It looks that way J.C. That last dove Dad released hasn’t come back yet.

Mickey: That’s a good sign, isn’t it?

Shem: It’s a very good sign!

J.C.: What happened to the first bird?

Mickey: The raven? Didn’t you hear? He kept flying around and around and around looking for some place to land.

Shem: Poor bird—he got so dizzy he made himself sick. He finally came back.

J.C.: Is he okay?

Shem: I don’t think so. I think dad said he caught some kind of bird flu.

Mickey: So, that’s why Noah didn’t send him out again?

Shem: Yeah, so the dove, who was a friend of the family, volunteered to go in the raven’s place.

J.C.: And he came back with a branch from a tree, so Noah knew most of the water was gone and plants were growing again, right?

Shem: Right.

Mickey: Then Noah sent him out again a few days later, and this time he hasn’t come back at all!

J.C.: I just know the dove isn’t going to come back this time. I can feel it! We’re almost home!
